Tai Cheong Bakery
I am not sure if I can find enough words to describe how much we absolutely fell in love with savoring these irresistible egg tarts from Tai Cheong Bakery. Perhaps the fact that this place was also the favorite of Hong Kong's last British governor, Chris Patten, would explain the fantastic egg tarts this bakery produces.
Tai Cheong Bakery is not famous merely from a having an approval stamp from a well known figure. It really does make some pretty darn good egg tarts. My first bite into the egg tart, I knew I was in for a treat. The shortcrust pastry shell was perfect and with the right crunch. The crust had a right texture that held up and without being over crumbly. Each bite was perfect.
I still dream about the delicious Hong Kong foods now that we're back in Chicago. Tai Cheong Bakery's egg tarts are definitely in my mind.
